i'm not sure if it's been posted somewhere before, but i translated

synthesis
words: tadashi / music: akira

orange-coloured, throbbing melancholy
i trace the vapour trails outside the window
the setting sun raises flickering shadows on the curtains
laughing at my stupidity, they disappear somewhere

before i know it, i'm drenched in sweet pain
rather than helpless, i feel at ease
yet still, the dull pain crumbling under my feet
will be soaked up in the gathering syrup,
drifting away it'll change into foam

the flowers on my table are withering
i just stare at them, giving them no water
when the paralyzing sorrow becomes certain
even my overlapping futures don't seem frightening

i close my eyes, even though i'm scared
and tomorrow forcibly pulls my arms
waiting for the yet unknown scenery to take me out somewhere
before i sink into deep sleep, the intruding, dull pain
will be soaked up in the gathering syrup,
drifting away it'll change into foam

before i know it, i'm drenched in sweet pain
rather than helpless, i feel at ease
and yet still, the dull pain crumbling under my feet
will be soaked up in the gathering syrup,
and drift away

some parts of this makes no sense at all; i'm not really sure if that's tadashi's fault or mine. comments, criticism, corrections anyone? i feel like i could use some. (._.;)

Wow, that's.. really something.. especially coming from Tadashi. I love the opening line. Thanks for the translation. ^_^

By the way, did Tadashi also write the music for Melancholic? I'm guessing Tarou wrote the lyrics as usual.

it is, isn't it? @@; uwaa. tadashi always seems so.. calm & smiling & responsible, and then he writes things like this while tarou goes on about falling snow & cherry trees (^^;;) haha.
i really love the entire first paragraph, it creates such a beautiful mood for the rest of the song. <3

you're welcome; and, tarou wrote both lyrics&music for melancholic. ^^
Aeneaskaoru_chan on August 14th, 2004 04:13 pm (UTC)
Yeah it does. I usually like Tadashi for music, Ryutaro for lyrics, but Tadashi is still a wonderful writer. <3

Oh really? o_o That's a surprise (a good one, cause I love the song). ^^;

wow amazing o_0; you're such a hard worker!

"yet still, the dull pain crumbling under my feet will be soaked up in the gathering syrup,"

:"yet still, i gather the dull pain crumbling under my feet to soak up in syrup,"
Something like that maybe? ....but what do i know; *kicks table & breaks toe*
i can't even find my japanese copy of the synthesis lyrics.
spacerocketnemurenai on August 14th, 2004 12:17 pm (UTC)
ee. thanks~ ^^

&yeah!, you could view it like that as well, now that you mention it-
i guess it depends on whether you view 'kakiatsumete' as a verb in itself or just an attribute to the syrup? or something. @o; maybe.
i do have a feeling you should be the better one of us at japanese though ^^; ,so hit me if i'm not making sense

THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!
O_O
The lyrics are a-we-so-me. Tadashi-sama is great.

... tomorrow forcibly pulls my arms
... before i sink into deep sleep, the intruding, dull pain
will be soaked up in the gathering syrup,
drifting away it'll change into foam

O_O wow!! Plastic Tree lyrics are always so rich... knowing them adds a lot to the performance
can't continue, i'm in a rapture *flows away* <3

It's kind of fun when we translate the same songs...gives me some comparison. I don't think either of them came out half bad...even if I wasn't that happy with mine when I first finished it.

It was a strange song to translate, though, wasn't it. Dashi's just crazy. <3
spacerocketnemurenai on August 14th, 2004 01:27 pm (UTC)
agreed! seeing another interpretation always gives you some new views on the lyrics, right~

&yes.. it was. @@; some of the lines just made my head spin.. dashi is indeed crazy (& therefore we love him. :3)
