1000 Paper Cranes Fan Project - Check this post for updates please
I've taken yinghui19 's advice and tidied this up a bit >.<

Ok, we've decided that everyone will ship their cranes toayukas  who has very kindly volunteered to collect them for us and get all 1000 (hopefully) to them! When you have finished making your cranes PM her and me (two heads are better than one) with the following information and she will give you the address to send them to.
1) Your name and country
2) How many cranes you are sending
3) When you are going to send them and when they should arrive (just ask at the post office, they should give you an estimate)

If you are going to join in please comment by the 1st of january so we can have a final list in place.  Then if we aren't going to get 1000 we can see how many more each person needs to make to reach that number.

Everyone's cranes need to be sent off by the 15th of January.  That should be enough time ^_^ (we will have somewhere for you to send them to by then).  This is the date that they leave YOUR post office, not the one in japan.  So everyone should be able to participate ^^

Upload the picture of your completed crane/cranes to flickr. Please make the title your username, you can write whatever you want in the description box.

Below the cut there is a table of everyone taking part + how many cranes they are making.  I've just assumed that you are making one unless you have said otherwise.  If you are making more comment with how many you are making (if you've already commented just say that you already have and then how many you are making...sorry that I didn't think of this earlier...)

Crane specification!
- you can write/draw whatever you want on it
- country and your name on the neck (refer to photo) a MUST
- no specific size (A4 cutout or usual origami paper size both ok)
- leave your crane flat so it is easier to send

So off we go + merry christmas!

http://origami.org.uk/origamicrane  - I found this one the most useful

Table of people taking part so far + extra info(thank you!):

If I've made any mistakes comment and I will add/remove your name ^_^
If you are shown in a colour that means ayukas has your info.  If your name isn't in a colour please pm her!  Also, please don't edit the document, even if we have made a mistake just comment here and we'll change it :)

Some slightly iffy examples i did...yeah, origami isnt really my thing.

Great! I think everyone could decorate the cranes at they wish to but mentioning country somewhere would be nice so he can see where they are from. 1000 cranes is very much and I think even 100 cranes would make him extremely happy but it's the thought that counts not the amount. Thank you for starting this project!

Also, there should be a deadline. New Year would've been awesome but it's too soon so how about Valentine's Day?

This is such and adorable idea! For Ryuutarou to see so many people's support all around the world would definitely help him feel better. I'd love to submit a crane! <3

I'll help! Even though I can't even fold a napkin right so he'll probably get sad deformed cranes from me - it's the thought that counts right?

I didn't expect you'd take my little comment seriously, but I was really planning on doing some and send a picture. So I'm definitely up for this and count me in :)

I'll participate.

My question is, is there a certain size we want the paper crane to be? Large or small (so it's easier to send maybe)? Do we want everyone's cranes to be the same size (so it's uniform) or leave it up to ourselves (for more individuality)?
the_mintthe_mint on December 26th, 2010 01:01 am (UTC)
Sorry, I had another thought^^;;

We could maybe write messages on the insides of the cranes? So on the backside of the paper before we fold it, expressing our wishes for him to get well, as well as any other encouraging words. Ryuutarou doesn't ever have to open the cranes or read it, but it'll be a nice symbolic gesture that the cranes are carrying our thoughts and wishes to him.

Also I'll be more than happy to make more than 1 crane (I'll make 10 or 20 if I have to) if we don't get enough.
